Yes, that's what the rim of a pizza is called, but which many refer to as the "crust". Technically, the crust comprises the entire bread component including the base of a pizza.

It's one of the many things you probably didn't know about pizza, a dish so common that some regrettably diss as boring.

And we have the US, one of the world's largest consumers of pizza, to thank for sharing the Italian treasure with other countries across the globe including Singapore. Word has it that American soldiers stationed in Italy during World War II got a taste of pizza and hankered for it after they went home, fuelling pizza booms across the US. And the rest, they say, is history.
