Israel yet to give proof UNRWA staff part of terror groups: Review
    April 24, 2024 2:52 AM

A separate investigation by internal UN investigators is looking into the Israeli allegations against the 12 UNRWA staff.

The review said UNRWA shares staff lists annually with the Palestinian Authority, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.

The review said Israel had not raised any concerns with UNRWA, based on those staff lists, since 2011.

Israel stepped up its accusations in March, saying more than 450 UNRWA staff were military operatives in Gaza terrorist groups.

Masters student Emilia from Vienna, who also gave no surname, said she could picture Swift going to the pub.

Bar supervisor Hattie makes an “Aperol Spritz (Taylor’s Version)“ drink at The Black Dog pub.

German climate activists sentenced for spraying paint on Brandenburg Gate
    April 24, 2024 2:22 AM

BERLIN - A German court on Tuesday (April 23) handed down suspended eight-month prison sentences to three climate activists who sprayed orange paint on the columns of Berlin's landmark Brandenburg Gate last September to demand a stop to the use of fossil fuels by 2030.

The activists were supporters of the "Last Generation" climate activists group, which had made headlines in Germany with hundreds of road blocks by protesters who glued themselves to tarmac.

The prison sentences were suspended for two years but could be enforced if the defendants commit new offences.

"The orange Brandenburg Gate should remind us that change and therefore a life according to our common values - humanity, justice, honesty - is possible," said Lina Johnsen, a spokesperson for the group.

US, Russia set for a showdown at UN over nuclear weapons in space
    April 24, 2024 1:11 AM

The text affirms the obligation of states to comply with the Outer Space Treaty and calls on countries "to contribute actively to the objective of the peaceful use of outer space and of the prevention of an arms race in outer space.".

The 1967 Outer Space Treaty bars signatories – including Russia and the United States – from placing "in orbit around the Earth any objects carrying nuclear weapons or any other kinds of weapons of mass destruction.".

The amendment echoes a 2008 proposal by the pair for a treaty banning "any weapons in outer space" and threats "or use of force against outer space objects.".

Russian President Vladimir Putin said in February that Russia was against the deployment of nuclear weapons in space.
