A staycation in Singapore never looked or tasted so blissful

SINGAPORE - Silk-like bed sheets, fluffy pillows, and a mega buffet brunch - these are just some of the things needed to turn an ordinary weekend into a blissful one.

If this is what the doctor ordered, then Pan Pacific Singapore's Bed, Brunch & Bliss staycation weekend is just the luxurious antidote to cure anyone's blues.

Finding bliss in a hotel room

As part of the staycation package, guests get to stay in the Harbour Studio room with a gorgeous panoramic view of the business district and Marina Bay area.

Decked out in warm Pacific hues and a contemporary design, my first thought upon entering the room was that it was huge.

Walking in, a closet large enough to fit my entire wardrobe greeted me. True to its five-star hotel accreditation, every item a guest might need-from bath amenities including bath salts, to the plush bathrobes, and even the padded bedroom slippers-was provided.

The masterpiece of the whole hotel room could very well be the luxurious marble bathroom complete with a Kaldewei bathtub, Hans Grohe fittings and signature rain shower.

Guests can pamper themselves silly with custom-made products from luxury Australian skincare brand, em.brace by Vanity Group, and may enjoy their preferred choice of pillow from an extensive pillow menu that includes organic buckwheat hull.

The hotel underwent an $80-million transformation in 2012 and today, almost all of the rooms feature innovative and remote-operated switches. All you need to do is press a button when you want privacy, draw the curtains or your room cleaned.

Perfect getaway for every guest

The generously-sized Harbour Studio room at 46 square metres features an open-concept working and sleeping space, and is perfect for jet-setting singles, honeymooning couples or vacationing families.

Designed with the needs of the busy executive in mind, the large workspace comes with an ergonomic Herman Miller chair, complimentary Wi-Fi and local calls.

After getting work out of the way, there is also an in-room bar area where guests can wind down for the evening with the beverage offerings of the fully-stocked e-fridge while enjoying the wide spectrum of local and cable television programmes on the 32-inch LCD Smart television.

Those wanting to venture beyond their room will be delighted to know that there are also other facilities in the hotel such as the swimming pool outfitted with underwater speakers, a 24-hour fitness centre, and the award-winning St. Gregory spa for the ultimate indulgence.

Children are not forgotten and will be fully entertained at the jungle gym and playground located on Level Four of the hotel.

The only "show" that'll make you hungry for more

Dubbed "food theatre" by the award-winning hotel, Edge, which is the dining option as part of the package, was definitely one of the highlights of my stay.

Get ready for the ultimate dining experience as you indulge in Oysters, Lobsters, Japanese Omi Wagyu Beef, Suckling Pig, rows of bread and cheese, and Sausages made fresh in-house, complemented with unlimited crisp-tasting Veuve Clicquot Champagne for four hours.

In particularly high demand were the Canadian and Fine de Clair Oysters, Alaskan King Crab and Boston Lobsters. To keep up with the demand, a chef was there to shuck oysters for the guests and I didn't have to wait at all for the plates to be replenished.

Diners can also request for dishes from the live stations that include Wagyu Beef from the Carvery station, homemade Duck Confit Ravioli made a la minute from the Pasta section, and Poached Eggs with Truffle Coulis from the egg station.

I particularly enjoyed the Oven-baked Halibut with garlic and butter. Soft and flaky, the halibut tasted like sweet milk as you bite into the caramelised skin flavoured with minced garlic.

A meal can never be complete without dessert and Edge houses over 20 choices of cakes, ice cream, chocolate pralines, and even live stations for pancakes and waffles.

Sunday Champagne Brunch is available from 12pm to 4pm, and thanks to the late check-out at 5pm - one of the perks of the package - I got to indulge in a post-buffet nap before leaving.

Bliss for my mind and for my stomach, I cannot wait to come back for more.

The Bed, Brunch & Bliss package is available on Saturdays, and prices start from $525.

Guests also get to enjoy a complimentary parking coupon and 20 per cent savings for dinner at hotel-operated restaurants and bars such as Hai Tien Lo, Keyaki and Atrium.
