Sweets shop pop-up at Ion Orchard

Get in touch with your inner-child when you head to 11/2-month-old sweets shop Janice Wong at Ion Orchard.

Think colourful chocolate balls with a surprise toy in its centre and chocolate paints that taste fruity, smoky or just like the purple-hued and grape-flavoured Fanta soft drink.

Pastry chef Janice Wong's treats, which range from eclairs to vibrant slabs of chocolate to unconventionally shaped marshmallows, are whimsical and also an ode to Wong's childhood.

The Le Cordon Bleu-trained Wong, 31, is best known for her cutting-edge 2am:dessertbar in Holland Village, a popular joint for plated desserts.

Her eponymous shop in Orchard Road is her first foray into retail products, and there are plans to expand the brand to major cities including London and New York.

She pushes the boundaries when it comes to desserts, and her current offerings include a spherical cake collection where various types of cakes such as strawberry shortcake and yuzu cheesecake are shaped like globes in an array of colours.
