SINGAPORE - Chinese professional tennis player Li Na is estimated to be worth S$51.1 million (US$40 million) after her singles win at the Australian Open last weekend.

Li’s victory in this tournament, the first Grand Slam event in 2014 , earned her $2.9 million in prize money. 

The 31-year-old, fourth seed Chinese player became the first Asian to win the Australian Open when she triumphed over Dominika Cibulka of Slovakia 7-6 (7/3), 6-0 in the women’s final on Saturday. 

She also became the oldest winner of the tournament’s women’s title, a record previously held by Margaret Court who was 30 when she won in 1973. This is the second Grand Slam victory for Li Na, who won the 2011 French Open women’s title.
