Tetsuya Wakuda wins Diners club Lifetime Achievement Award

SINGAPORE - Chef Tetsuya Wakuda of Waku Ghin at Marina Bay Sands has been awarded the Diners Club Lifetime Achievement award.

The award is voted for by members of The Diners Club Asia's 50 Best Restaurants Academy, comprising over 300 leaders in the restaurant and culinary industries throughout Asia.

Said Chef Tetsuya, "I feel fortunate to be a part of this industry. I have learned from, and been inspired by, all the chefs and friends I have had the pleasure of knowing over the years. To receive this acknowledgement from an esteemed panel of industry experts is so humbling, and I'd like to thank everyone who helped me along the way."

Chef Tetsuda is known for his signature style of blending Japanese dishes with French techniques and ingredients, while preserving a balance of natural flavours and respecting traditions behind both cuisines.

Before heading Waku Ghin, which opened in 2010 and placed seventh in the Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list last year, he headed Tetsuya's in Sydney, which ranked at fourth place on the World's 50 Best Restaurants programme in 2005.

Chef Tetsuda will be presented with his award at the Asia's 50 Best Restaurants awards ceremony on March 9 at Capella Hotel, Singapore.

Besides the Lifetime Achievement award, other awards that will be announced at the event are: The S.Pellegrino Best Restaurant in Asia, The Veuve Clicquot Asia's Best Female Chef, One To Watch Award, Asia's Best Pastry Chef Award, Highest Climber Award, Highest New Entry Award, and Individual Country Awards .
