Tian Tian best hawker stall

Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice was crowned Best Hawker by AsiaOne readers yesterday at the AsiaOne People's Choice Awards 2014.

The awards, held yesterday afternoon at the SPH auditorium, is the website's annual recognition of consumers' favourite products and services.

Toa Payoh Rojak and Beach Road Prawn Noodle House came second and third in the hawker category.

They were among more than 80 winners in 28 categories. More than 200,000 votes from the public were cast over a three-month period.

Carousel was a double winner this year, scooping up its fifth Best Buffet Restaurant award, as well as being inducted into the AsiaOne People's Choice Awards' Hall of Fame.

This year, four categories were added: Best Family-Friendly Mall, Best Attraction, Best Boutique Hotel and Best Cafe.

The guest of honour for the awards, Kurt Wee, president of the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, said: "With technology, it is so much easier and convenient for the public to express their satisfaction or unhappiness with products and services."

AsiaOne editor Adrian Tay said: "The People's Choice Awards is a platform for consumers to have their voices heard."
