Train stalls at Kranji; SCDF deployed

SINGAPORE - Train services between Woodlands and Yew Tee were briefly disrupted for over an hour due to a 'traction power loss', prompting SMRT to deploy its free bus bridging services between the affected stations.

On its twitter page, SMRT first said that it was alerted to the power loss between Kranji and Yew Tee stations at 12.30pm.

Nearly 20 mins later at 12.54pm, SMRT updated that the fault covered Woodlands station to Yew Tee station.

It added that its engineers were deployed on track to rectify the fault.

Train services between Woodlands and YewTee were later restored at 2pm.

According to a SCDF spokesman, a fire engine and ambulance were deployed to Kranji station after receiving an alert at 12.40pm. There were no reported casualties.

SMRT told AsiaOne that the train was in between Kranji and Yew Tee stations when it stalled.

As Kranji station was on 'flatter ground', passengers on the affected train were requested to walk towards Kranji station.
