"What moves you?" That is the tagline that you'll see when you're on the rooftop of this sexy new hotel on the block. Located in the busy Changkat Bukit Bintang area in Kuala Lumpur, Mov Hotel was recently launched in May last year. The hotel stands tall in the busy Changkat Bukit Bintang area in KL.Photo: The Star/Asia News Network
If there was ever an environment that inspires creativity, this hotel, which has a decidedly European feel to it, would be it.
The spacious lobby sports a trendy urban design, with a touch of quirkiness. You'll be greeted by a huge white panther sculpture when you step into the lobby. The lobby of MOV Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, guarded by a huge white panther. And, next to the lounge area is an indoor slide that leads all the way down to the restaurant, Wurst. Don't worry, there's also a lift for guests. There is a slide in the lobby that leads all the way down to the restaurant downstairs.Photo: The Star/Asia News Network
An independent restaurant headed by Chef Logan, Wurst is known for its eight types of gluten-free sausages and has an interesting menu of Asian and Western cuisine. The restaurant is pork-free, but they do serve alcohol.
There are 138 Urban (standard) and nine Lofts (premium) rooms at the hotel, plus a gym, a rooftop pool, a hammock lounge, and a meeting/conference room.
I stayed in the Infinity Loft, which comes with a metal four-poster bed. I thought the bed was really comfortable, and I love its minimalistic design with geometric shapes overhead.A full-length circular mirror next to the four-poster bed in the Infinity Loft.Photo: The Star/Asia News Network
The room itself looks "adult", sporting rectacular and circular shapes, with a high-ceiling, an open wardrobe concept, floor length windows, and mirrors … quite a few of them, in fact. What you see above the metal four-poster bed.Photo: The Star/Asia News Network
In case you were wondering, there weren't any ceiling mirrors, but for selfie addicts, there is a huge circular floor-length mirror next to the bed, and another unusual shaped one at the other end of the room. There is also a mirror by the washbasin, sandwiched between the toilet and shower rooms.Inside the shower room.Photo: The Star/Asia News NetworkA uniquely shaped mirror at the other end of the room.Photo: The Star/Asia News Network
In the living area, lies a circular sofa that is large enough to be a second bed. There is also a TV cabinet, a place to hang your clothes, and a coffee-and-tea corner with a hidden refrigerator.
The lofts come in four designs; the family loft is a duplex (two levels). There is also a couple's loft which features a romantic open bathtub and soft, sexy lighting. The Family Loft is a duplex (two storey). The Urban rooms are slightly smaller, but they are mostly styled in the same way as the lofts with an open concept wardrobe that uses monkey bars to hang up clothing. And the sexy curved bathroom comes with mood lighting called "rainbow lights".
All the rooms are individually equipped with high-speed dedicated Hotspot WiFi so that you don't have to share with other guests.
Business guests can conduct meetings at the Think Tank room, but be forewarned, this is not your typical boardroom style meeting room. It offers innovative seating from gym balls, swings, to designer chairs.
The hotel is a five-minute walk from the Bukit Bintang MRT Station so it's very convenient for guests. It is surrounded by some of KL's popular tourist spots such as Jalan Alor Food Street, Bukit Bintang shopping area, and Changkat Bukit Bintang where all the happening nightspots are. Also easily accessible are the iconic Petronas Twin Towers and KL Tower.
Mov Hotel is located at 43, Jalan Berangan, Bukit Bintang, 50200 Kuala Lumpur. Tel: 03-2781 9888.
