Jetstar to launch world's first book exchange in the air

If you're hopping on a Jetstar flight this Saturday for a holiday, be sure to grab a book from the airport lounge before you depart.

As part of the National Library Board's five-year project known as the National Reading Movement, Jetstar will be giving out 500 books from July 30 to August 31, to encourage reading among its passengers.

The initiative is the first of its kind as a survey among 3,900 Singaporeans revealed that more than half read less than five times a year and only seven per cent read when on holiday.

So to encourage its travellers to read more, Jetstar said in a statement on Tuesday (July 26) that it will be kickstarting a book exchange movement in the air.

Passengers will be able to choose from a selection of donated bestselling books when they depart from Changi Airport starting this Saturday.

Once they land, passengers can either return their books to the seat pocket of their next Jetstar flight or donate one of their own for future passengers to enjoy.
