New premium outlet in Genting offers 150 brand names

Genting Highlands Premium Outlets opened its doors to the public yesterday.

This is Malaysia's second premium outlet after Johor Premium Outlets. It is also South-East Asia's first hilltop Premium Outlet Center.

Developed at a cost of RM200mil (S$64.7 mil), Genting Highlands Premium Outlets sits on 55,741.8sq m of land and will feature more than 150 designers and brand name stores offering shoppers impressive savings of up to 65 per cent off daily.

To celebrate its soft opening, shoppers were offered several promotions.

The first 50 customers received Polo Ralph Lauren RM100 off with purchase of RM1,000 or more while the first 100 customers enjoyed 50 per cent + 30 per cent + 10 per cent savings on Coach Mickey items.

In addition, Baskin-Robbins and Starbucks Coffee offered complimentary ice cream and ice-blended coffee respectively for the first 250 customers.

The first 100 customers who spend RM200 or more at the centre will be given complimentary tickets for Awana Skyway from June 15 to 24.

Serving the Central-Eastern Malaysian market, the Premium Outlets' strategic location within Genting Highlands enhances Genting Highlands' attraction as a major tourist and holiday destination that draws approximately 20 million visitors annually.

Conveniently located just 45 minutes from downtown Kuala Lumpur, Genting Highlands Premium Outlets features many brand names. Food and beverage are also available.

Genting Simon Sdn Bhd chief operating officer Jean Marie Pin Harry said he was excited that the centre would complement Resorts World Genting's offerings.

"Genting Highlands Premium Outlets is a key component of the Genting Integrated Tourism Plan and an illustration of private sector participation under the Economic Transformation Programme as well as a catalyst for the tourism industry in the East Coast Economic Region," he said.

Genting Highlands Premium Outlets is a 50:50 joint venture between Genting Plantations Bhd and Premium Outlets, the outlet division of Simon Property Group.
