Vietnam notches up in world football rankings

HANOI - Vietnam rose one spot in the January FIFA rankings. There were only 16 matches international matches played in December, resulting in almost no change in the rankings.

Vietnam moved from No 147 to 146, and No 3 in the Southeast Asian (ASEAN) region.

Thailand made a big jump from 133 to 121 and are the top team in ASEAN.

The world's top teams remain unchanged with Belgium, Argentina and Spain staying in the top three.

On the women's side, Vietnam are No 29 in the world, No 6 in Asia and No 1 in ASEAN.
