A view to A Q

Infiniti's first entrant in the compact executive segment has quite the unenviable task. Not only is the marque a relative unknown here, it has to go up against stalwarts such as the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Lexus IS and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. And if all that wasn't tough enough, the Q50 will have to perform as an entry-level premium car should, which means it will need to be all things to all young, upwardly mobile individuals.

While the odds might seem stacked against the Q50, it's clear Nissan's premium arm (similar to what Lexus is to Toyota) is a carmaker in the midst of reinventing itself, and with a sense of newfound optimism.

But the proof is in the yuppie-consumed pudding, so Torque's "terrible trio" will rate how well the Q50 does in three areas important to the social climber.
