Actress Zhang Ziyi gives birth to baby girl

Actress Zhang Ziyi, 36, and her husband Wang Feng, 44 welcomed their new baby daughter on December 27, after months of keeping her pregnancy under wraps.

According to The Straits Times, the actress gave birth in Los Angeles, US, on December 27, 2015. The birth was announced on Zhang's Weibo account, with a photo of two adult-sized hands holding the tiny hand of the newborn.

The Mandarin caption was translated as "Dec 27, 2015, you, me and her... With the birth of a little life, we have our own home. All is safe and smooth, infinite gratitude."

Toggle reported that Zhang's beau Wang shared the same photo on his own Weibo account, writing: "She has arrived; a lovely new baby," along with a poetic verse translated as "The dust settles, spring begins and flowers bloom."

Zhang was reported to have given birth in mid-December, but these rumours were debunked after photos surfaced of the still-pregnant actress walking her dog in Los Angeles.

This is Zhang's first child and Wang's third; he is reported to have two daughters from previous relationships.

The couple had been dating for one-and-a-half years before Wang proposed at a high-profile bash for Zhang's birthday. They were reported to have registered their marriage in Hong Kong in May.
