The 51st Golden Horse Award Ceremony was held in Taipei, Southeast China's Taiwan, on the night of Nov 22.
The annual Golden Horse Awards are one of the most prestigious film honors in the Chinese-speaking world.
Actor Chen Jianbin walked away with the best new director, the best actor and best supporting actor awards. Actress Chen Shiang-chyi was awarded the best lead actress and actress Wan Qian won the best supporting actress. Hong Kong-based Ann Hui was named as best director for The Golden Era.
Aside from the awards, let's take a look at who wore what on the red carpet.
Chinese actress Tang Wei's hair was "effortlessly" done, as she always does for major events. She flashed her symbolic smile, light and airy, and wore a dress that was glamorous and feisty at the same time. She is a living example that deep V-necked dresses can look good with a not-so-deep cleavage.
Veteran actress Gong Li chose a golden gown from Ports 1961 to go to the Golden Horse Awards. How interesting. The one (if not many) mistake she's made with this choice is that this dress is not suited for someone with a fuller figure, like herself. See how the model wears simple and chic? In Gong's case, she looks like she's a golden mountain that's about to explode with the deadliest magma there ever is.
Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi chose a piece from J Mendel 2015 Resort collection. The little bit of orange on her waist, a color nicely matched with her lips, accentuated her slim figure. The fish net top matched well with the printed dress. She looked like a beauty who walked straight out of an oil painting.
Chinese actress Gwei Lun-mei chose a backless beige dress from the Elie Saab Couture 2014 collection. Every successful actress has her own unique character. If Gong Li is marked by her domineering aura, and Tang Wei by her elegance, then for Gwei, it is her girl-next-door image. Even if she's wearing a backless dress, luxurious jewelry and an Elie Saab dress that will make anyone look like an angel on earth, she still looks like, well, a good girl that lives next door.
Chinese actress Jiang Qinqin is a living textbook for fashion. The dress she chose is elegant at first glance, but with a closer look, it has many playful details. The result is controversial, but she probably doesn't care for she is most definitely overwhelmed in joy with her husband Chen Jianbin taking home the award for best new director, best actor and best supporting actor.
