TOKYO - Japanese pop star Ayumi Hamasaki said she has married her American medical student fiance.
Her management company said they wed in Los Angeles last month. It followed their engagement in December last year.
On her official fan club website on Monday, the singer said her mother submitted their marriage registration documents in Tokyo on their behalf the same day, according to reports.
Hamasaki, 35, met the unidentified graduate school student from the University of California, who is 10 years her junior, during the New Year holidays last year and they started dating last spring.
She and Austrian actor-model Manuel Schwarz, 32, were married for 12 months before their divorce in the United States in January 2012.
But she had previously denied being married, saying they never registered their marriage in Japan. That will make her latest marriage her first in Japan, reported Taiwan TV station ETTV.
