Beauty secrets: Lee Yeon Hee

The South Korean actress-model and SK-II ambassador was recently in town for the launch of the brand's festive offerings. She is best known for her leading roles in dramas such as Gu Family Book and Miss Korea.

What is the one product you would not step out of the house without?

I carry a small pump bottle of SK-II Treatment Essence. I spray the essence onto my face whenever my skin feels dry.

What is the one grooming service you cannot do without?

I don't trim my hair often because I never know what hairstyle is required for my next role in a drama or movie.

But at least once a week, I go for facials with vitamin and moisturising supplements in a beauty salon located in the Gangnam area.

I also use an SK-II sheet mask at home the day before a public appearance.

What, in your opinion, is the best beauty invention?

I'm not saying this just because I'm an SK-II ambassador, but the SK-II Treatment Essence worked for me right from the beginning.

When I was in my early 20s, I shared a drawer with my elder sister. She kept a bottle of the essence in it and told me not to touch it. The product is pricey and I couldn't afford it then, so I used tiny amounts of it and hoped she didn't notice. But she still caught me.

What is your favourite perfume?

I cannot remember the brand as I receive lots of perfume as gifts. But I prefer lighter scents which smell herbal or of jasmine.

What is the most ridiculous thing you have done in the name of beauty?

I've never worn my hair in crazy styles or tried outrageous make-up. But when I was in college, I used to make my own mask packs from potatoes to soothe sunburns.

Give us a beauty tip.

I drink lots of water and sleep as much as possible. Sometimes, I have to work three days in a row with very little sleep. Afterwards, I will sleep in for an entire day to recharge.
