It's no Oscars (or even Golden Globes), but this year's Screen Actors Guild Awards certainly held its own in terms of standout fashion moments. A little offbeat yet glamorous was the call of the day.

Bold colours made their mark on the red carpet, as did a little shimmer and shine in the form of glamorous metallic. While some went all out to impress with 'wild' sleeves, others revved up their monochrome outfit using floral frills.

SAG Awards 2017: Red carpet hits and misses

  • Modern Family star Ariel Winter chose a see-through Mikael D gown with a plunging neckline.
  • Veteran actress Meryl Streep wore Valentino for the occasion.
  • Kirsten Dunst played it safe in this Dior number.
  • Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Lela Rose. The actress won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for her role in Veep,
  • Emily Blunt stunned in this modest yet glamorous Roberto Cavalli Couture and Lorraine Schwartz jewellery.
  • Yet another safe choice for actress Amy Adams, who wore Brandon Maxwell for the night.
  • This canary yellow Gucci number donned by Salma Hayek is unfortunately a miss for us.
  • Brie Larson was breathtaking in her white Dior gown that accentuated her assets in all the right places.
  • Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton.
  • Natalie Portman in Dior Couture and Tiffany & Co. jewellery
  • Most outrageous outfit of the night: Nicole Kidman. The actress' Gucci gown had huge peacock motifs in place of 'shoulder pads' and they proved to be too much of a distraction.
  • Sophia Vergara opted for a mid-length bustier dress by Zuhair Murad. Not quite one of her best looks but she's a stunner no matter what she wears.
  • Kerry Washington
  • Stranger Things star Shannon Purser who played Barb in the hit Netflix series, pulled off this all-black off-shoulder chiffon dress so well. Not bad especially since it is the young star's first-ever red carpet at the SAG Awards.
  • Actress Sarah Sutherland
  • Actress Mayim Bialik from hit comedy series The Big Bang Theory
  • Actress Michelle Dockery in Ellie Saab. This colourful dress reminds us of a certain local sweet treat.
  • The Big Bang Theory actress Kaley Cuoco
  • Woman of the hour: Emma Stone showed up in this semi-sheer Alexander McQueen gown.
  • Actress Kate Hudson wore a paneled Dior gown on the red carpet. However, the huge flower on her hip looked terribly out of place.
