Get away with Tory Burch

Get away with Tory Burch

Dive into the new Tory Burch pop-up store that is offering products from her swim collection, including swimsuits, kaftans and sandals.

Prices range from $240 for espadrilles to $1,050 for a bag. Ready-to-wear starts from $550.

The Tory Getaway Boutique, modelled on the pool house in her Southampton home, will be open till May 24 outside the Tory Burch boutique at Wisma Atria.

In an e-mail interview, Burch tells Urban about her favourite beach holiday destinations and dishes out packing tips.

Which are your favourite beach holiday destinations?

Southampton in New York is one of my favourite places in the world. I have a home there and love spending time with family and friends, just relaxing and reading outdoors. I'll go paddleboarding with my boys, go to farmer's markets, play tennis and search for antiques.

Phuket is also extraordinary. From the quiet beaches and turquoise water, to the fresh seafood and local fishing villages that are best explored in cool wooden boats.

I also love a Mediterranean getaway - the craggy Amalfi Coast is dramatic and incredibly beautiful.

What do you pack for a beach holiday?

Swimsuits, cover-ups, kaftans, T-shirts, shorts and cotton dresses.

What beauty products do you take along?

My beauty routine is pretty minimal and that's especially true when I'm at the beach. I'll take along tinted moisturiser with SPF for skin protection, as well as mascara and our lip colour in my favourite pinky nude shade - Pas du Tout - for a natural, polished look.

Could you share some packing tips with us?

I try to edit my packing list and take easy, versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched, or can go from day to night with the addition of high heels or a bold piece of jewellery.

Cotton day dresses, knits and printed scarves are great for layering.

KEEP IT SIMPLE

Effortless and polished would best describe the Setting The Bar collection from Joanne L., a local jewellery label.

Perfect for everyday wear, the earrings, rings, necklaces and cuff bracelets come in gold-plated sterling silver, rhodium-plated sterling silver and sterling silver.

Prices range from $148 for earrings to $198 for a cuff bracelet.

The full collection is available on www.pinwheeljewels.com. Selected pieces are carried at Keepers: Singapore Designer Collective.

CRUSH ON COCO

After two weeks of being exclusively available on Net-A-Porter, Chanel's Coco Crush jewellery collection has made its way to the Chanel fine jewellery boutique at 01-04 Takashimaya Shopping Centre.

The beauty of this collection, which includes rings and a cuff bracelet, lies in its simple, chunky design that celebrates one of Chanel's most recognised motifs - the matelasse or quilted pattern.

Prices range from $2,940 for a ring in 18K white gold to $28,310 for a cuff bracelet in 18K yellow gold.

Chanel's international fine jewellery director, Mr Benjamin Comar, discusses the collection that took about two years to complete in an e-mail interview with Urban.

What is the story behind the name Coco Crush?

When we created this new design, we wanted to create pieces of jewellery that, as soon as you see them, you will become addicted to them and develop a true crush on them.

What is the significance of this collection?

We wanted to offer something new, a full solid-gold collection which, in its simplicity and contemporary spirit, would express the modernity and refinement that has characterised Chanel Fine Jewellery.

Why was the matelasse picked to be featured?

The matelasse is an icon of the House of Chanel. Coco Chanel was completely taken by this graphic design to the extent of making it one of the elements of her stylistic language and a signature.

She borrowed the quilting design from the world of equitation. This motif was used in her clothes from 1920 and stitched onto the leather of her bags from 1955.

In her Rue Cambon apartment, she chose to decorate the beige suede cushions on the sofa with this motif.

OBJECT OF DESIRE

You will be in good company with the Celine silver Trio bag that works across your body, on the shoulder or held as a clutch. $1,750, 01-28 Takashimaya Shopping Centre.

ZALORA POP-UP

Following the success of its first pop-up store at Ion Orchard which closed in January after 31/2 months, online retailer Zalora has opened a second pop-up at Bugis+.

The 2,400 sq ft space houses fashion brands such as River Island, Material Girl, Dorothy Perkins and Burton Menswear London.

As the store does not hold inventory, shoppers will not be able to take home their purchases immediately. Purchases will be delivered to your home free of charge if you spend $40 and above. Otherwise, there will be a $3.90 delivery charge. Allow up to three days for delivery.

Zalora also offers next-day delivery for $8.90. The pop-up store will be open until July 29.
