Go vintage by recreating British actress Felicity Jones' look

There's something about vintage clothes that instantly make one appear glamorous and ladylike.

A great example is British actress Felicity Jones in The Theory Of Everything, where she plays renowned physicist Stephen Hawking's first wife Jane.

The biopic, now showing in cinemas, is set in the 1960s, when Jane first meets Hawking (Eddie Redmayne) at Cambridge University.

One of the standout dresses is the long, pale blue lace frock Jones wears in the May Ball scene, where the couple enjoy a romantic night out complete with fireworks.

The film's costume designer Steven Noble said they found the iconic piece in a store in England.

"The original piece looked more festive and I adapted it," Noble told On Screen Style.

"It had sleeves and it had a much fuller, sort of petticoat full skirt. We took the sleeves off and we sliced the neckline slightly. We pulled the skirt up and we cuffed it to make it fit Felicity. It was just so beautiful."

You don't need to travel to the UK to recreate Jones' feminine look.

Local vintage stores Dustbunny Vintage at Bukit Purmei Road and Granny's Day Out at Peninsula Shopping Centre carry similar styles, priced from $80 to $250, that will tickle your vintage fancy.
