Hady Mirza ties the knot

Hype Records, Hady Mirza's record company, has confirmed that the Singapore Idol 2 winner, 34, got married last Saturday.

Friends of Hady, contacted by Life!, also said he had his marriage solemnised last Saturday in Malaysia. They do not know the identity of the bride.

This came after a photograph of the bridal couple surfaced on Facebook. It was later taken down by the henna designer Syra Skins.

The statement from Hype Records said that Hady "would like to keep this special occasion private. We wish him a wonderful marriage". It also quoted the singer thanking his fans for their congratulatory wishes and blessings.

Hady said through his record company: "I have finally found someone I would like to spend the rest of my life with. To fans, the media and all who have supported me, thank you for the well-wishes."

He has taken a step back from the limelight in recent months, turning his attention to FRHM Youth, a local organisation promoting a Muslim education and way of life among youth which he co-founded last year.

Friends said they were informed by Hady to expect an invitation to a wedding ceremony in April, most likely in Johor where he has reportedly been based for about the past 11/2 years.

The New Paper reported in December last year that the five-time Anugerah Planet Muzik (Malay music industry awards) nominee, best known for his single Angkasa, which was No. 1 for 29 weeks on Ria FM 89.7, was taking a sabbatical to focus on other things.

In a brief interview with Life!, a friend of Hady's who wished to remain anonymous, expressed mild surprise at Hady's marriage solemnisation. "Hady is the kind of guy who does what he wants and tells you about it later. I think at this point, no one is surprised by what he does. It's in his nature to be surprising. It's just who he is." He said that many of Hady's childhood friends have not seen him in over a year.
