Icon Ball guests dressed to impress

Oscar Wilde wrote:

"...women who are darlings rule the world."

And an evening at Thursday's Icon Ball, held to celebrate Chinese luxury lifestyle magazine Icon's 11th anniversary, was a testament to those words.

Reminding one of the short story The Model Millionaire, from which Wilde's famous quote originated, the event at the Shangri-la Hotel's Island Ballroom was an evening of models, millionaires - and lots of air-kissing.

More than 300 guests from the local glitterati came dressed to impress.

While most of the men turned up in sharp tuxedos - a safe choice for such parties - all eyes were on the women who came swathed in evening gowns of every hue and texture.

The theme was An Evening Of Wonder And Whimsy and many guests followed it to a T.

The highlight of the glitzy affair? The 20 women who were named Best Dressed for the night.

Beaming, they glided towards the stage to receive their bouquets as the hostess repeatedly cooed "absolutely stunning".

STUNNING

One such stunner, CEO and director of TV station Wowz Entertainment Rany Moran turned heads in her Mikael D gown.

The statuesque beauty told The New Paper: "I took only about 45 minutes to an hour to get ready this evening. It's such an honour to be among the best dressed."

Another recipient, socialite Susanna Kang, is no stranger to the Best Dressed list and her voluminous Alfie Leong gown earned her a place among the other beauties.

She said: "I wanted to look like an intergalactic queen and I wanted to stand out."
