Jesseca Liu's wedding dress - how she found her perfect gown

As with any bride, actress Jesseca Liu had very clear ideas about her big day dress - it had to be lightweight and easy to walk in (she had a beach wedding ceremony at The Westin, Langkawi), something subtly glamorous without being overtly sexy (she didn't want to shock her older relatives).
The Shortlist
Jesseca had been looking for dresses and gowns she liked for the past few weeks online. She edited the selection again and again so that the final shortlist was very clear and focused.
This helped Steve and her to finally narrow down exactly what kind of style she preferred.
Style & Silhouette
When Steve vetted through her shortlist, he realised that she had a preference for slinky, curvy gowns.
There were a few fit and flare dresses she liked but the majority of the designs she chose were sleek mermaid styles.
The Right Fabric
Once he confirmed the particular style she liked, they starting discussing about fabrics. Heavy fabrics were out - not great for outdoor ceremonies - and dense laces were too classic and oldish.
Get The Details Right
Jesseca didn't mind laces but she wanted a modern pattern and something subtle. That effectively ruled out full lace gowns. They decided to look at dresses that had lace appliques or embroidery as accents instead.
Let's Go Shopping!
The duo went gown shopping and Steve brought her to a few bridal boutiques that carried dresses he thought she would like.
He narrowed the list of shops to 3 main boutiques; anything more would be too confusing for the bride-to-be.
Try & Try
Steve's motto has always been: when you go gown shopping, try as many gowns you're allowed - and try different styles if possible.
Based on gus experience, some brides actually fall in love with the dress they would never consider at all; they only realised how beautiful they looked when they tried the dress!

It's A Process
Trying different gowns will also help you shortlist what details you like about the dress (even if you don't like the rest of it).
You could like the back detail of a ballgown or the lace of a particular dress. The designer can then look for a gown with similar lace details in the silhouette or design that you like.
Take Your Time
Jesseca saw a few dresses that she liked during that first outing but it didn't feel like she found the perfect one. Instead of pushing her to confirm a design, Steve told her to mull over it.
Do More Sourcing
He also started looking around a few other boutiques to see if there was something she would like based on her feedback from the outing.
As luck would have it, there was an upcoming bridal trunk show featuring a selection of slinky mermaid gowns he knew would be perfect for her. He made an appointment to view them with Jesseca
The Perfect Dress
The trunk show had a few outstanding pieces that would look great on Jesseca. Steve went through the collection to pick a few styles for her to try. There was a particular dress that stood out from the rest for it's modern simplicity - it didn't have any sheer panels or a low sexy back and it did look a little conservative.
But Steve loved the simple lines of the dress, the satin fabric and absence of intricate ornamentation and details. Most of all he loved the off-shoulder drape sleeves which he thought would highlight Jesseca's slim shoulders and neck beautifully.
After trying a few dresses, Jesseca slipped on the dress Steve liked and lo and behold, she looked stunning in it! The hidden wiring in the bodice shaped her torso beautifully while the off-shoulder detail added focus to her neck and shoulders (just as he predicted).

The satin silk fabric flowed beautifully around her slim curves. The whole dress was lightweight and easy to move around in - it looked sensual and not blatantly sexy. Thus, it ticked all the right boxes for Jesseca!
Two-Looks-in-One
The big plus?
A poufy sheer lace train that could be attached around the hips for a ballgown look (perfect for the wedding ceremony), and detached to reveal a slinky mermaid silhouette that was ideal for the evening celebrations.
Two looks in one dress! Jesseca loved the dress the minute she saw herself in the mirror and in that moment everyone knew it was THE perfect wedding dress!
