Jessica Jung wins K-pop Crisis of the Year award

Surprises and shocking news plagued the K-pop industry this year, keeping anxious fans on the edge of their seats.

And it seems like the biggest crisis for them was seeing popular member Jessica Jung getting kicked out of A-list group Girls' Generation - it attracted 176 votes.

In second place, with 127 votes, was the news of Super Junior leader Leeteuk's triple family tragedy (his father murdered his parents before committing suicide), while the departure of members Luhan and Kris from EXO ranked third at 88 votes.

Jung, 25, was reportedly asked to leave in September as her newly-launched fashion line Blanc & Eclare was a conflict of interest with the group's activities.

The news made headlines across Asia and fans discussed it widely on K-pop forums.

In a recent e-mail interview with The Straits Times, she revealed that she would be focusing on her fashion line, but she does not rule out the possibility of making a comeback in the K-pop scene.

Jung, who is still an artist under SM Entertainment, which manages Girls' Generation, said: "I chose to pursue my passion for fashion. I like being diligent and working hard.

"Singing is certainly something I will continue doing."
