Jewellery designed by S'pore company protects women in times of danger

Have you ever encountered sticky and potentially dangerous situations that were extremely difficult to get out of?

Advertising agency JWT Singapore has created a range of jewellery that is not only stylish and chic, but also protects women from harassment and danger.

The Guardian Angel, which was created in partnership with the Association of Women for Action and Research (AWARE), combines technology and style to allow "women and girl to live their lives fully without fear of harassment or violence", according to their website.

On The Guardian Angel, which resembles a halo, there is a special button that can be pressed by the wearer in a precarious situation.

A call will then be made to the wearer's own mobile phone, giving her an excuse to walk away from harassers.

If the button is held for more than three seconds during more potentially dangerous situations, a text message will be sent to a designated number, such as her parents or a friend, to alert them that she is in danger.

The message will also contain coordinates and a Google Map link to her location.

The Guardian Angel, which can be worn as a bracelet or necklace, can be bought for $150 online at their website.
