Joeypink Lai thinks her loud voice and bubbly character may have helped her last night at New Face 15.
She won two subsidiary titles - TNP Miss Popularity and Miss Levi's®.
Ever the professional, the 23-year-old air stewardess was all smiles last night on the runway. Even after the competition she was still bubbly and cheerful, without a hint of exhaustion.
Joeypink, who added the "pink" to her name to reflect her bright and loving personality, said: "I didn't expect winning Miss Popularity at all because it is very competitive on Facebook."
She said she was always very loud in school and took part in five to six camps a year, so she made a lot of friends to whom she attributed her Miss Popularity win.
"I won probably because of my NPSU (Ngee Ann Polytechnic Student Union) friends, who helped me spread the word."
More than 20 of her NPSU friends supported her with light sticks and a banner with her name last night.
One of them, Ms Seetoh Wei Xuan, 23, said: "She is always very gutsy, fun, loyal and also has a big personality.
"There's a thing about her that draws people to her... Even her name stands out!"
Joeypink's appearance in the final may also see her switch to modelling as a career.
She said earlier: "I'm going to leave my job soon, so this might be a life-changing moment for me....If I get into the Top 20, (modelling) is what I'm going to do."
Joeypink, who has an older brother, said she owes a lot to her single mum, who took courses to further her education to earn more money for the family.
