A cosmetic procedure promising an instant boost to the size of women's breasts is quickly gaining popularity with women in Japan.
Clinics tout the procedure by promising that breasts can be instantly enhanced by one to one-and-a-half cup sizes without surgery in just 30 minutes.
However, the effect only lasts for a day and the patient's breast will go back to the way it was 24 hours after undergoing the procedure.
Due to this vanishing effect, the procedure is commonly called 'Cinderella breast augmentation', RocketNews24 reported. In a video demonstration posted on YouTube, a female patient's A-cup breast can be seen growing noticeably bigger as a solution is injected into it.
The solution used is known as the Lactated Ringer's solution - a mixture of sodium chloride, sodium lactate, potassium chloride and calcium chloride - usually used to replenish body fluids during medical treatment.
Tokyo Isea Clinic, which innovated the procedure, claims that the solution can be expelled from the body and does not damage the breast tissues.
It also said that the procedure is safe for patients who intend to breastfeed in the future.
Chinese evening daily Lianhe Wanbao reported that the procedure costs between $58 and $348, making it a lot more affordable than permanent breast augmentation.
Common procedures used to increase bust size include insertion of silicone implants into the breasts, or grafting fat from other parts of the body to the bust.
