Michelle Reis' beauty secrets

Michelle Reis, 43

The former pageant queen and actress has been the face of Shiseido's anti-ageing line, Revital, since 2011.

Based in Hong Kong, the mother of one was here to attend a Revital cocktail party held at Seviin at Tangs Orchard last month.

What is the one product you cannot step out of the house without?

A good concealer. It is all I wear when I am on vacation, to hide my dark circles and other imperfections because I never know who I might meet.

I like Shiseido's Natural Finish Cream Concealer ($48) as it is not drying and does not smudge even when I am in places with humid weather.

What is the one grooming service you cannot do without?

I like to have perfect nails all the time, so I have a manicurist who comes to my house once every two weeks to groom them. I like gel nails because they last longer. I usually stick to a classic dark red or neutral French manicure.

I do not really care about my hair. I get it trimmed and groomed when I am on the job. On my days off, I just bundle it up into a loose bun.

What, in your opinion, is the best beauty invention?

False lashes and lash extensions. Everyone has them on these days as they can make the lashes look full and the eyes look prettier.

I used to put on fake lashes only when I am working, but I recently tried lash extensions because they are more convenient to wear.

Which is your favourite perfume?

I do not wear perfume as I do not like artificial smells. I am also uncomfortable around people who wear strong perfumes. The only scent I wear on my skin is the clean and fresh scents of bath gels.

What is the most ridiculous thing you have done in the name of beauty?

A few years ago, I tried acupuncture on my face as a few of my friends told me that it could stimulate collagen growth.

They said it was amazing. I tried it and probably had an allergic reaction. My face swelled up for about a week. It was a terrible and frightening experience.

What is the best beauty tip that anyone has given you?

My mother always tells me that natural beauty is best. She told me to never do anything silly, such as changing my features with surgery.
