SINGAPORE - MP for Marine Parade GRC, Ms Tin Pei Ling, has given birth.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday (Aug 5), she wrote: "Hi everyone, I'm happy to share that I've 'popped'! It's a healthy baby boy. Thank you for your well wishes over the past months."

NTUC Secretary-General Chan Chun Sing also posted a congratulatory message on Facebook along with a photo of mother and baby.

He wrote: "Congrats Pei Ling for the arrival of your baby boy! Wishing you a fulfilling journey as mommy and all the joy of mothering."

Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong also paid a visit to Ms Tin in hospital. Besides congratulating the couple on their newborn, he posted on Facebook that the 31-year-old MP will be fielded in Macpherson SMC for the coming General Election.

He wrote: "Lest she is anxious, I passed the message from the Party that she will be fielded in MacPherson in coming GE. I advised her to rest and not worry about the date of the GE. She will not be there at the ND Parade but there will be time for her to turn up at Nomination, and campaign thereafter."

Ms Tin is married to Ng How Yue, the Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Law. This is the couple's first child.
