New leave-in treatments to keep locks shiny

L'Oreal Paris' best-selling Extraordinary Oil now comes with additional UV protection for your tresses. The Extraordinary Oil +UV Protection ($26.90 for 100ml, available from next month at major supermarkets and pharmacies, photo 1) is also more lightweight than the original formula. Made with flax, tiare, rose, lotus, chamomile and matricaria extracts, the oil can be used in multiple ways.

Apply it on hair the night before a colour treatment to prevent it from becoming dry and brittle afterwards, or use it as a heat-protecting serum before you use heated styling tools.

You can also blend it in with your hair mask for an extra boost of glossiness.

Sunsilk's new cream leave-in treatments are made to deal with midday frizz.

To deal with flyaways, there is the Sunsilk Instant Smoothening Cream (photo 2), which is a blend of keratin, yogurt powder and the amino acid lysine, as well as lipid-rich sweet almond oil, Moroccan argan oil that is rich in omega-6 fatty acids, coconut oil for softening, olive oil to tame frizz, and jojoba oil to add shine.

For damaged hair, the Instant Damage Reconstruction Cream (photo 3) promises to condition hair with sunflower oil, lysine and glycerine.

The formulas are priced at $5.90 for 120ml and are available at major pharmacies and supermarkets.
