Quick eye make-up tips

Quick eye make-up tips

Follow these tips to apply your eye make-up like a pro with minimal fuss and without spending hours in front of the mirror.

Curl, not crimp your lashes

Ms Angie Soon, chief executive officer of Cosmoprof Academy said: "Before applying mascara, curl your eyelashes using an eyelash curler. This will help to separate your lashes and give a nicer finish."

Tip: There is a trick to curl your lashes quickly and effectively. Open the curler completely and bring it to the upper lashes.

Place the rubber strip of the curler as close to the roots of your lashes as possible. Close the curler carefully and squeeze lightly. Work the eyelash curler from the roots to tips of your lashes.

Tip: Rotate the curler upwards, so that the curve of the curler touches your socket bone. This is a crucial step in achieving a curl, rather than a mere crimp.

Work your mascara wand

Ms Soon said: "Start by applying mascara to the top side of the upper lashes by working from base to the tip. Begin from the outer corner of the eyes, keeping the mascara wand as close as possible to the base.

"For the underside of the upper lashes, work upwards from base to the tip using a 'side to side' motion."

Tip: To prevent mascara from getting onto your eyelids, avoid getting too much product on the mascara wand. Too much mascara increases the chances of it smudging on your eyelids.

Cover up your dark rings

To complete your eye make-up, apply undereye concealer in a triangle, not a semicircle. This method brightens your eye area, disguises dark rings and makes your make-up less patchy.

Tip: Gently blend concealer with your ring finger without tugging the delicate skin under the eyes.
