She has brains, legs and abs: The rise of fashion's latest star, Amal Clooney

NEW YORK - Designer Giambattista Valli pretty much sums up the appeal of a rising fashion star, lawyer Amal Clooney, in an interview with The New York Times.

"She is not a reality-show girl. Finally there is someone with a mind and legs," he says. (Translation: Finally there is someone who is not a Kardashian.)

Clooney, 37, attracted wide notice for her style last year, when she wore head-turning couture through the weekend she married actor George Clooney, 53.

According to the Times, Vogue editor Anna Wintour is credited with coaching Amal Clooney in fashion.

More recently, the lawyer has kept fashion bloggers busy during her stay in New York, turning the city's sidewalks into a veritable catwalk. Here are a few of her hottest new looks.

She has been teaching at Columbia Law School while her husband makes a movie in the city. Tom & Lorenzo blog characterises her look as "21st C Jackie Kennedy".

April 3: For a date night with her husband at Babbo, a mainstay of high-end dining in New York, she wears a stunning mini dress with flutter sleeves by Valli. "She can do no wrong," Elle website declares.

March 24: For an evening out with Valli at The Monkey Bar, she shows off her abs in a funky outfit by him (main photo). E! website calls her ensemble, feathered crop top and chevron-printed bell bottoms, "seriously groovy".
