Singapore fashion designers to battle for regional top spot in runway show

SINGAPORE - Fashion designers Fedri Mak and Ng May Ee will try to snatch the crown for Singapore with their collections at the Harper's Bazaar Asia NewGen Runway Show 2016 on Oct 27.

The two, who emerged as the winner and runner-up respectively at the Bazaar NewGen Fashion Designer Award for Singapore in May, will be going up against six other designers from Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand at the runway show, to be held at the National Gallery Singapore as part of Singapore Fashion Week.

The regional winner will walk away with a scholarship for a master's degree in Fashion and Luxury Brand Management at Italian school of fashion and design Istituto Marangoni, and a $20,000 cash sponsorship from Harper's Bazaar Singapore in collaboration with Swarovski.

SPH Magazines, which publishes Harper's Bazaar Singapore, said in a statement on Tuesday (Oct 4) that the NewGen Fashion Award, started in 2013, is a platform for young fashion designers to showcase their talent.

The collections of all eight finalists will be showcased in the four Asian editions of Harper's Bazaar.
