A soft spot for bold colours

A soft spot for bold colours

How would you describe your sense of style?

Prints and colours. The more unexpected the combination, the better. I love to personalise an outfit by accessorising with pins and brooches (photo 1) because they are such fun and cute add-ons.

Who are your favourite designers and go-to brands?

I relate more to graphics and design concepts. I love American gift brand, ban.do (www.shopbando.com) and Camille Walala, a graphic artist from London.

I also like Australian fashion designer Jaime Lee because she incorporates glitter into her designs well.

Do you have any style icons?

American actress Blake Lively's character in the movie, The Age Of Adaline. She looked elegant and put together.

I am obsessed with the fashion on American teen drama The Carrie Diaries because it is bold and fun.

What are the favourite pieces in your wardrobe?

A vintage printed dress (photo 2) I bought at Grammah in Haji Lane; a pink vintage skirt (photo 3) I bought from Chakrapong market in Bangkok and my sister's primary school shirt (photo 4), a white shirt with a Peter Pan collar - I love pairing it with a midi skirt with the sleeves cuffed.

Do you have any weakness when it comes to shopping?

Anything with bold colours, mesh, glitter, tulle and prints such as polka dots, spots and stripes.

What is your favourite splurge piece?

I am not one to break the bank on just one item. My current favourite is my Kate Spade bag (photo 5), which I bought in Melbourne for about A$150 (S$154).

I love the shade of green that instantly brightens an outfit, as well as its shape and size.

Is there a purchase you have regretted?

Once, I bought a black and red shirt and, when I got home, I realised it looked a lot like a Pizza Hut uniform. I immediately tossed it into the bin.

What is your most recent fashion purchase?

A crop top and dress (photo 6) from artist Camille Walala's collaboration with Australian womenswear label Gorman.

What is the best shopping or style advice you live by?

Never shop alone as I will just end up with more junk.
