Splurge or save: Lip tints

Laneige Water Drop Tint in Peach Coral, $30, from Laneige counters

This is made with technology which prevents the water in the formula from evaporating, as well as a lightweight oil for shine.

Review: An angled, spade-shaped felt tip applicator picks up just the right amount of the non-sticky creamy formula for one coat. The glossy pink-coral liquid lipstick also settles on the lips quickly - within one minute - and leaves behind a bright and long-lasting stain.

Clio Gelpresso Glow Tint in Wedge Orange, $16.90, from selected Watsons stores

Contains a lotus extract to moisturise lips.

Review: With a twist at the bottom of the tube, the watery formula is dispensed through a tiny hole at the tip of a lipstick-shaped applicator.

A tiny blob of the formula will do; it can get messy if you twist the tube too much. Apply just a thin layer or the bright orange liquid lipstick will not settle and dry. This product gives lips a sheen and leaves behind a light peachy stain.
