VivoCity celebrates Lunar New Year with fairs and contests

SINGAPORE - This Chinese New Year, VivoCity aims to be a one-stop-shop for customers to do all their New Year shopping in one location. With new year fairs, animal mascots, and contests, the mall's celebrations aim to have something for everyone in the whole family.

The highlight of VivoCity's celebrations is the Tangs-VivoCity Chinese New Year Fair, held at the Central Court. Featuring more than 40 vendors, the fair aims to cover every aspect of the Lunar New Year, offering decorations and ornaments, as well as festive treats such as pineapple tarts, Chinese sausages and abalone.

Shoppers who spend a minimum of $80 can redeem a pack of red packets, $150 will give customers a chance to pick a red packet from the auspicious cherry tree in the South Avenue, and $250 entitles cusotmers to redeem an oriental red packet holder.

Vivocity's Plaza will also be hosting the annual fortune-telling display with zodiac animals. Paying homage to the Year of the Fire Monkey, The Plaza will feature an 18-foot (5 metre) tall lighted monkey mascot, surrounded by the other 11 zodiac animals.

Customers can also enter a Facebook contest by uploading a photo with their favourite zodiac animal onto VivoCity's Facebook page describing why their favourite animal is the best out of the 12. Eight winners stand to win a Signature Festive Set from Bakerzin.

VivoCity's celebrations will be held from January 15 to February 21, with different activities spread out through the six-week period.

The mall is also in the running for Best Shopping Centre at AsiaOne's People's Choice Awards 2016. Click here to vote for your favourites and win attractive prizes!
