ENGLAND - Spitbank Fort may look a little rough on the outside, but you'll change your mind the moment you step inside.

Built in the 19th century, the fort was originally built to defend England against a French invasion.

The fort is situated in the Solent, just off the Portsmouth Harbour, and has since been converted into a private island and luxury hotel.

The ancient fort boasts eight suites, three elegant dining rooms, three bars including a stylish Laurent Perrier Champagne bar, a heated rooftop pool and a sauna with a stunning seaview.

A number of historical rooms such as the Magazine and Crow's Nest have also been updated for use as recreational areas.
