Australian homeowner Megan Sutherland had quite a shock when she heard a buzzing sound on the weekend. "It was like a blanket of bees just out the window. It was just unbelievable," she told Australia's Nine Network.
Sutherland soon discovered that the bees had built thick slabs of honeycomb in a bedroom wall of her home near the city of Newscastle.
A bee expert cited by the Newscastle Herald said the hive could have been there for two years or more and recent hot weather had brought the bees back.
Sections of the plaster wall had to be cut open to remove the bees and honeycomb. "I plan on selling the honey and bee wax to friends,"Sutherland told Reuters.
