Death toll in Brazil building collapse rises to nine

SAO PAULO, Brazil - The death toll in the collapse of a commercial building in Sao Paulo rose to nine as another body was found in the rubble Thursday, a fire department spokesman said.

"The body of a 28-year-old construction worker was found this morning, bringing the (death) toll to nine" the spokesman told AFP.

One construction worker was still missing and 26 were injured in Tuesday's accident, officials said.

Search teams using excavation equipment continued to comb through the rubble.

Officials said the two-story building for a chain of clothing stores called Torra Torra had been under construction for three months.

The cause of the accident was still not known.
