Man caught for Twitter shooting threat

A man, 20, has been arrested in Los Angeles, US, after writing on Twitter that he would shoot a random pedestrian if people retweeted his message 100 times on the social media website, police said on Friday.

Dakkari Dijon McAnuff posted a photo (right) on his Twitter account last week of a rifle resting on what Man caught for Twitter shooting threat appeared to be a balcony railing, pointed down at a darkened street, Reuters reported.

McAnuff posted, "100 RT's (retweets) and I'll shoot someone walking," according to police, who did not say if the message had been retweeted 100 times.

McAnuff was arrested on Wednesday in his home, where police found an air rifle but not a gun.

He has not been formally charged yet, said the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

The Twitter account used by McAnuff has been taken down, according to the police, reported the Los Angeles Times.
