NSW Government, Scoot Airlines signs two year agreement to boost visitation

The New South Wales (NSW) Government has signed on Tuesday (Dec 1) a two-year partnership agreement with low-cost carrier Scoot to boost the number of visitors from Singapore to Sydney and New South Wales.

The NSW Government said in a statement that its Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres and Scoot Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Campbell Wilson signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the NSW Government's major tourism and events agency, Destination NSW and the airline.

Mr Ayres said: "Working with Scoot has allowed us to undertake multiple campaigns in Singapore, which have increased visitation from this nation and I have no doubt this will continue with the new agreement we have signed today."

Scoot CEO Mr Wilson said: "Sydney, being the first destination ever served by Scoot, is very close to our heart. The fantastic value, choices and 'Scootitude' that we've introduced to the market has helped deliver more Singaporean visitors to Sydney and regional NSW."

Close to 110,000 visitors from Singapore visited NSW in the year ended June 2015, staying 1.5 million nights - an increase of over 19 per cent over the previous year.

An estimated $226 million was also spent in NSW in the same period, contributing to an 11 per cent growth in visitor expenditure.
