Princess Charlotte given $59,000 gold rattle

Life is good for a baby. It is even better when you are a royal baby.

Princess Charlotte turned one yesterday (May 2) and Kensington Palace marked the occasion by releasing adorable photos of her and a list of gifts that Charlotte has received in the past year.

Her toybox must be brimming with presents that she's been given from kings, queens, presidents and prime ministers from 64 countries around the world, in addition to items such as blankets, clothes, cards, books and bootees from well-wishers and fans of the Royal family.

These are all very nice but one of the most lavish must be a silver rattle from the Mexican President, Enrique Pena Nieto, and his wife. Can she even chew on a silver rattle?

Apparently, US company Natural Sapphire Company also gave Charlotte a 18k white gold rattle "studded with diamonds, rubies and sapphires", worth 30,000 pounds (S$59,300).

While the Palace could not confirm if her parents Prince William and Kate have received the gift, according to The Daily Mail, gifts from commercial companies are not accepted as a general rule. 

The Obamas also reportedly gave Charlotte a stuffed animal version of their dog, Bo, on their recent visit to the United Kingdom.

Here are some of Charlotte's fanciest gifts received from birth:

- A silver rattle from Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto, and his wife, Senora Angelica Rivera.

- An 18k white gold rattle "studded with diamonds, rubies, and sapphires", worth 30,000 pounds (S$59,300), from the Natural Sapphire Company.

- A willow rattle handwoven by basket maker Ciaran Hogan, according to News.com.au.

- A set of silk figurines, depicting the traditional Chinese story, 'Dream of the Red Chamber', from Chinese President Xi Jinping.

- A stuffed animal of Obamas' Portuguese Water Dog, Bo, a rocking chair and baby blanket from President Barack Obama and wife Michelle Obama.

- A copy of Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales from British Prime Minister David Cameron.

- A cot blanket made from Tasmanian merino wool, embroidered with the Australian floral emblem, and a donation of AU$10,000 to the Healesville Sanctuary (where mountain pygmy-possums are conserved), from the Australian government.

- A snowsuit, a book, and a donation to Immunize Canada from then-Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

- A sleepsuit from the New Zealand rugby team.

- A pink dress embroidered with "From Israel With Love" from Israeli President Reuven Rivlin.
