Raunchy pool parties upset NY residents

Residents near a swanky midtown Manhattan hotel are up in arms against it.

The reason: Late-night parties at the hotel's pool, where women are often seen flashing their breasts to fellow party-goers.

The pool on the roof of the Gansevoort Hotel on Park Avenue, near 29th Street, has become a summer weekend hot spot for late-night, booze-infused parties, Mail Online reported. Rooms often start at US$400 (S$500) a night.

Because of all the noise and alleged indecent exposure, the 29th Street Neighbourhood Association have demanded that the hotel's liquor licence be revoked.

Neighbourhood Association chairman Mario Messina told CBS New York: "They're coming to the city to be wild. They don't care who is living there.

It's the wrong place and the wrong time to do something like that."

A British family who stayed at the hotel recently posted a less-than-glowing review on Trip Advisor of their experience.

"The main problem we had was the swimming pool - pool bar and area - which was ridiculously over-crowded and pretty much unsuitable for children after lunchtime."

The neighbours also claim that the club downstairs also hosts wild and loud parties.

Residents have sent photos of the wild parties to the city's Liquor Authority, which said it will look into the matter.
