Richest black woman in the world throws lavish wedding for son

If you thought Pippa Middleton's wedding was extravagant, you might want to hold on to your seat for this one.

The richest black woman in the world, Folorunso Alakija, just threw what could be the most lavish and over-the-top wedding extravaganza ever for one of her four sons.

The oil tycoon's son, Folarin Alakija, and Iranian beauty Nazanin Jafarian Ghaissarifar tied the knot at the historic Blenheim Palace in the UK last weekend.

The pair got engaged last year and had a traditional Nigerian wedding in Lagos in November, The Sun reported.

The Oxfordshire wedding venue was also the ancestral home of Sir Winston Churchill. Renting out the space reportedly cost a total of £150,000 (S$263,000).

In fact, the entire shindig amounted to £5 million, The Daily Mail reported.

It is the second marriage for the father-of-one, who lost his first wife to cancer six years ago.

But what's an opulent wedding without a million roses, a star-studded guestlist - including Victoria's Secret Angel Shanina Shaik - and a surprise performance by Robin Thicke?

Throw in an eight-tier wedding cake topped with flower and dove icing too - because, why not?

To decorate the entire place, celebrity florist Jeff Leatham and team were on hand to adorn the venue with roses and white orchids.

Leatham, who has worked also with reality TV stars, the Kardashians, is known to charge up to £250,000 for flowers.

According to The Sun, the new bride is a graduate of the University of Manchester and has worked as a model and a marketing consultant.

Her choice of outfit was a strapless, lacy white gown for the day and later changed into a glitzy party dress in the evening.

She reportedly met her businessman husband through mutual friends in London.

Just like how most fairytale weddings would end, the evening came to a close with a firework display in the hotel grounds.
