If the New York City subway system routinely ruins your day with its signal problems, brake issues, and general inefficiencies, know that you are not the only one feeling the pain.

For example: The graduate who missed his ceremony at Radio City Music Hall after his train was delayed two hours due to an emergency brake malfunction.

Per WABC, Jerich Marco Alcantara's E train was so severely delayed Tuesday that he was unable to make it to his Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing graduation in time.

Poor kid missed his graduation because of the train delay this morning....so we threw him a graduation on the train.

When he jokingly thanked his fellow passengers for attending his graduation, he and his friends turned the experience into a makeshift ceremony.

A video from the subway car shows a friend presenting Alcantara with a DIY diploma as Green Day's "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" played in the background.

Frankly, this sounds more enjoyable than a traditional ceremony.

We've reached out to Alcantara for comment and will update should we hear back.
