Tip here and risk insulting a country

As international travel has become more widespread, tipping has emerged as a culture known throughout the world.

New Zealand and Australia, for example, did not have a history of tipping until unaware international visitors brought the custom with them, raising expectations for service staff there.

However, tipping is a confusing culture, and not every country will accept tips. In fact, tips may even be viewed as insulting or offensive in some places.

Tipping in Argentina is actually illegal, although service staff may expect tips from foreigners.

In France, tips are already included in the service price, so tipping is not necessary.

Other countries you should not tip in include Japan, Oman, and Yemen.

However, wherever you go, it's always a good idea to ask about tipping customs there. People appreciate you finding out and it helps to avoid overpaying or uncomfortable situations.
