From Tokyo to New York: World celebrates Halloween

All decked out in horror costumes, revellers celebrated Halloween across the world, from America to Asia.

In Tokyo, parades started as early as a week before Halloween. Over in Hong Kong, street parties were held in the Lang Kwai Fong area in Central, while in India - where Halloween is fast becoming a routine - students were in costume for a Halloween fashion show in Bangalore.

Halloween, the day of the dead, is celebrated across the world by people of all ages with activities such as trick-or-treating, costume parties, bonfires and carving pumpkins into Jack-o'-lanterns.

Here in Singapore, more than 100 families participated in a decade-long trick-or-treat tradition at Woodgrove landed estate.

On Saturday night, costumed revellers in pitchforks and masks headed to Woodgrove to collect treats that were being handed out by families, most of whom are from the United States.

The US President, too, was busy on All Hallow's Eve. Barack Obama was busy hosting children by handing out treats on the South Lawn of the White House on Friday. And in the process, was greeted by a toddler dressed as a 'Mini Pope', complete with his own popemobile.

Much to the delight of the pint-sized pontiff, the president exclaimed: "Top prize!"
