Trying to beat Trump at his own game, Walker plays for anti-establishment vote

WALWORTH, Wisconsin - Scott Walker seeks to position himself as a fresh face for the Republican Party, arguing that the GOP can best counter Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton by not rallying behind a similar throwback.

Jeb Bush, a leading rival for the Republican nomination, is the son and brother of former presidents, who, along with Clinton's husband, occupied the White House consecutively for two decades.

"I think Americans, historically, like to vote for someone in the future not someone from the past," Walker told The Nikkei in an interview Sunday.

"To me, one of the best advantages Republicans have against Hillary Clinton or [Vice President] Joe Biden is to nominate someone who's a name from the future."

"Jeb Bush is a good man," the Wisconsin governor said. "He's a friend of mine. But he's a name from the past."
