WATCH: Tiny pedestrian crossing created for gophers in Russia

Gophers were seen crossing the road on a tiny pedestrian crossing created by local activists on the Tatyshev Island in Krasnoyarsk, Tuesday.

The Tatyshev Island has been known among Krasnoyarsk residents as the 'glade of gophers' since almost 5000 of them have claimed it home in the last few years.

The crossing with a special road sign and traffic lights were set up by activists ahead of the Green Festival, which will take place in the city next week. The activists are said to have set up the crosswalk to call on Krasnoyarsk residents to take care of rodents residing in the area.

The Green Festival is an annual event devoted to outdoor leisure activities, which gathers thousands of Krasnoyarsk residents.
