SINGAPORE - National swimmer Quah Zheng Wen picked up Singapore's first gold medal of the Asian Youth Games in Nanjing yesterday evening.
He clocked 1 minute 59.98 seconds in the boys' 200m butterfly event, edging out South Korea's silver medallist Jung Jae Youn by 0.03sec. The girls' 4x100m relay team added a silver.
Shooter Sean Tay added a silver to the medal tally in the boys' 10m air rifle with a score of 205.6, while fencer Choy Yu Yong received a joint-bronze after falling to China's Xu Qiancheng 15-11 in the semi-finals of the boys' sabre individual category.
